Good SHoW-8

Do you know what FIFA stands for?

Federation Internationale de Football Association!

"De" in Latin means "of". So now you know why Gopal called himself "Gopal de Lalgudi". It is there in French also. This "de" is to be pronounced like how we pronounce the letter "D" in English. It is suffixed after the first name or prefixed before the surname. :-)

But there is a surname called "De" in India, which is to be pronounced like the word "day". There are a lot of notable and notorious people who have this surname all over India and one in our group also.

Yes, it is our Bimalendu de De (Sudip), who is celebrating his birthday on coming Sunday (22/01/2006), is the SHoW (Super Hero of the Week) this week.

He has been a silent member in the group all along. Finally when I called him up, he said that he doesn't use that id any more and gave another id. He has been re-inducted to the group yesterday. This is to honor his re-entry into the group and for his spectacular contributions during his BC days.

All of you who know him would not have forgotten the trip after which we announced him as the HOW (Hero of the Week).

Those who don't know Sudip: Sudip was Moses's successor in BC.

Those who don't know Moses: Moses was our system administrator before Sudip. The fellow who initiated the current hot discussion by stating something that Kinshuk doesn't want to agree on. :-)

As it is, the system administrators are always popular/ notorious in BC, for that matter anywhere. That is a hot seat (as hot as the branch manager's) too. Unless you have good people skills, it would be very tough sailing on that boat. Everybody will be dependent on you and for every delay fingers will be pointed at you.

On top of all these, fellows like me will hack the IP address and connect to internet without anybody's knowledge. Some holy soul (if I don't share the IP address with him) will go and complain that to the management. Even for that nobody will shout at me, but the poor system administrators. They have to reap what everybody else sows (always thorns!).

He is one of the most loved BCians ever. What a pleasing smile, temperament and personality he has? Even a snake that goes to bite him will end up drinking few pegs with him. It's very difficult not to speak about drinks when we talk about Bimal. It's as difficult as talking about Sachin without cricket. He had his room on top of a bar those days. Do you know why? Because, he couldn't get one inside itself.

Most probably, he is getting married in coming April it seems. He has three photos in hand now and confused about whom to select. I think we need to include this also in the agenda for our next meeting. Sudip is badly in need of expert advice.

The same old pet name (Dumeel) given by Suresh will be his SHoW name too. Good SHoW Dumeel!!!
