Good SHoW-18

Hi All,

Sorry for the silence all these days. Work is very hectic. I think last week was the first time I failed to send the SHoW (Super Hero of the Week) mail.

There is a saying that is used by Cricketer Navjoth Sidhu very often (mostly in irrelevant contexts, which is what he is known for:-)) - "Courage is not the absence of fear. It's conquering the fear"! BTW - It reminds me of two things now. 1. Once Rajesh was saying when Sidhu was screaming in front of Geoffrey Boycott, "Boycott would be cursing his forefathers for teaching English to Indians!":-) I think that should be the worst thing to have happened to English and the best to India:-). He has such a rich English (only the context-sensitivity is the issue:-)) with which he harasses English themselves:-). 2. I named our Gopal "Navjoth Sidhu" once and got chased like a dog by him wherever he sees me. That was in the beginning of Sidhuism when I didn't know Sidhu would yap so much:-). Now I understand how much it would have disturbed Gopal then. Sorry Gopal!!! :-)

Actor Kamal Hassan says in one of his movies, "courage is nothing but pretending to be courageous"! When thought about it in depth, I could understand the underlying meaning of both the statements. Most of the times, we tend to mistake the absence of fear as courage. Courage that comes out of absence of fear always leads to debacles whereas the real courage that comes out of conquering the fear relieves us from fear and takes to great heights. We had one such incident last week, which SHoWed us the SHoW!

As we announced last week, Vijay was the SHoW (Super Hero of the Week) last week for his courageous attempt to reach a ghost over his phone. When Vidhya had forwarded that mail, no one dared to even keep the mail in the mailbox. Some one did SHIFT-DELETE it seems:-)! Our SHoW went ahead calling the ghost's number and confirmed that the number did not exist, just like the ghost. Might be if the ghost had attended the call, that would have been the best proof for ghost's existence, ever since the existence of this earth. Instead, it ended up becoming a proof for existence of hoax-mongers. BTW - Vijay! Was it absence of fear or you conquered it?:-) For the courage that you SHoWed - your SHoW name would be Mr. Courageous!

Now to talk about Vijay - he came from Chennai BC to Bangalore BC (Progress team) with a mission to leave BC within 6 months and successfully succeeded:-) in that, too. One of the unforgettable things that he did in those six months was, once he created a mail id in a girl's name and sent it to Senthil (one of the most romantic guys in our group), which I am sure would have made Senthil sleepless for at least a week. I am not sure even now if Senthil knows that it was done by Vijay. Senthil! Your intervention is expected here...

Finally, let's announce the SHoW for this week also. It's... Vidhya Sharma (for sending that mail to find out the Mr. Courageous in the group and for receiving an award from IBM)! Detail mail will follow...
